Returning today with her new album 'SOS', we dive into the SZA archives to pick 10 of her underrated tracks.
"Childs Play (feat. Chance the Rapper)" – SZA
The ultimate slow jam and ultimate collaboration, OG fans know "Childs Play" with Chance the Rapper as the standout on SZA's third EP, 'Z'.
"Percolator" – SZA
This summer SZA gifted us 'Ctrl' era track "Percolator", as part of her surprise drop marking the breakthrough debut album's five year anniversary.
"9" – WILLOW, SZA
A collaboration we almost forgot about but still makes so much sense - back in 2014, then 14-year-old WILLOW teamed up with SZA on "9" for her Google Play-partnered EP, '3'.
"Sweet November" – SZA
Another underrated favourite from 'Z', sampling Marvin Gaye's "Mandota".
"What Is Love" – Kingdom, SZA
With gauzy synths and SZA's half-lucid vocals, Kingdom collab "What Is Love" landed the same year as 'Ctrl' but fits in its own dreamy soundscape more aligned with 'Z'.
"Ur" – SZA
Produced by the late Mac Miller (under his production pseudonym Larry Fisherman), the pair even performed the track live together in 2014 at Red Bull Studios LA.
"Caretaker feat. SZA" – DRAM
Stripped-back and intimate, the vibes are immaculate on this 2015 link up with DRAM (Does Real Ass Music).
"HiiiJack" – SZA
With perfectly simple lyrics and intricate production, "HiiiJack" sees SZA storytelling at her best.
"2AM" – SZA
Another one of the seven previously unreleased tracks SZA dropped with 'Ctrl (Deluxe)' this year, hazy "2am" is one for the late night feels.
"Go Gina (Stripped)" (Vevo LIFT) - SZA
An ethereal take on a 'Ctrl' classic, this live performance of "Go Gina" is peak SZA magic.
