From soundtrack needledrops to spiritually aligned singles, here are ten tracks to immerse you into the cinematic realm of the hottest horror film right now.

'Iris's Theme' by Hrishikesh Hirway & Sophie Thatcher

Starting off with the most personal way to get into a character's psyche, Companion composer Hrishikesh Hirway teamed up with the film's star to create a hauntingly beautiful character theme which captures Iris perfectly.

'Come On Let's Go' by Broadcast

Speaking to NOTION for her digital cover, Companion star Sophie Thatcher told us that when making the movie she listened to "this British band Broadcast the group who I’m obsessed with" to get her into Iris' headspace. "There's a nostalgia to it that felt romantic", Sophie explained. 'Come On Let's Go', with lyrics like "It's hard to tell who is real in here" felt particularly apt to us.

'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls

The clue is in the name, of course, but debut director Drew Hancock made sure that this iconic song made the Companion soundtrack for real. As Josh unpackages his new 'girlfriend', this ethereal, ironically loverboy song plays in the background.

'Look On Down From the Bridge' by Mazzy Star

Another Sophie Thatcher fave, Mazzy Star has Iris written all over them: thoughtful, haunting and curious. Exploring metaphors about life after death and what it means to grieve, 'Look On Down From the Bridge' takes you on an emotional rollercoaster akin to the film's twists and turns itself.

'This Guy’s In Love With You' by Burt Bacharach

An ironic song choice for the particular scene this song plays in, it’s dreamy and romantic, juxtaposing Iris’ world as she knows it falling apart.

'You Showed Me' by The Byrds

A film with a timeless feel and look to it, atmospheric 60s sounds like the folkloric The Byrds lilt through the scenes of Companion effortlessly. A moody soft rock ballad, the minor-key and unexpected chord progressions add an eerie feel to the Beach Boys-type harmonies, as Iris deals with the consequences of Josh’s behaviour.

'Colour of Anyhow' by Beverly Glenn-Copeland

"Look into my eyes, forever the paling hour / That reveals your power and your fears", Beverly Glenn-Copeland sings in an early scene of Iris. Looking out over the lake, the moving song lulls us into a false sense of security ahead of the chaos which soon ensues.

'Tainted Love' by Soft Cell

Too on the nose? Toxic romance, sinister sounds and synths galore, it would probably blow Iris' mind in the best way possible and who can blame her.

'I'm Everything To You' by Hrishikesh Hirway & Sophie Thatcher

Drawing in elements of ‘Iris’ Theme’, Hrishikesh Hirway and Sophie Thatcher bring new synth-y levels to the score in 'I'm Everything To You’ as Iris develops: both frenetic and oddly calm.

'Emotion' by Bee Gees

Written in the 70s, the Bee Gees’ track is best loved as a Destiny’s Child hit cover, but the bands original version is the crescendo to Companion, capturing Iris’ catharsis in true disco fashion.
