19MIL is at her most experimental and self-assured on the new dark pop anthem, 'THE RITZ'.
It’s no secret that 19MIL has become one of the most intriguing names in the new wave of dark pop. Armed with a feather-light voice and a razor-sharp edge, she’s been building a reputation for tracks. With her latest single, ‘THE RITZ’, the rising star doesn’t just lean into her signature sound—she fractures it, warps it, and rebuilds it into something totally her own.
‘THE RITZ’ is bold. It’s alien. It’s indulgent. It’s 19MIL at her most experimental and self-assured.
“This was one of the first times I was able to bring that forward confidence to the song that you could really feel while listening,” she shares. “Dark, sharp, and edgy instruments accompanied by super sonic vocals that are somehow powerful yet light at the same time. An absolutely beautiful mess.”
Co-produced with acclaimed producer Mike G – whose credits include Offset, G-Eazy, Joey Bada$$, and more – the track channels a new energy for 19MIL. Built on an electric guitar-heavy beat laced with sci-fi textures and hard-hitting percussion, ‘THE RITZ’ feels like a soundtrack to a stylish descent into mayhem. But while the sonics push boundaries, the core remains unmistakably hers.
“’THE RITZ’ really channelled key parts of that new 19 while exploring something that feels honestly sort of completely new,” she explains. “It even creates a genre of its own.”
A Studio Session Turned Milestone
For 19MIL, collaborating with Mike G wasn’t just another session – it was a transformative experience. The two linked up at his personal studio, a space with its own legendary status (yes, even Carti has been there), and the chemistry was immediate.
“Mike was awesome at making me feel more than comfortable while still standing in this coaching role that I really needed,” she says. “I was determined to go home a better artist – and thanks to his help, that’s exactly what happened.”
But the beat didn’t click instantly.
“When I initially heard the beat, it seemed too far out of what I know how to make. It was so rock. I didn’t even know how I could slide on it,” she admits. “But I was very wrong.”
With Mike G pushing her to trust the process and stretch her voice in new ways, 19MIL found her footing – and then some. What emerged was a hypnotic anthem brimming with attitude and sleek chaos.

A Song About You, But Mostly About Her
On the surface, ‘THE RITZ’ drips with exclusivity and glamour, conjuring images of hotel hallways and blurred midnight escapades. But the real message runs deeper.
“The emotion behind ‘THE RITZ’ is really selfishness,” she says. “The negativity of focusing on yourself and only giving to yourself transmuted into something confidently uplifting.”
It’s an anthem for self-prioritisation – an unapologetic reminder that putting yourself first isn’t just okay, it’s powerful. And her favourite line captures that spirit with bite:
“Dream about me, I’m your nightmare.”
It’s that blend of vulnerability and dominance that makes 19MIL so compelling. Even as she breaks genre rules and explores new sonic territory, her voice – both literally and figuratively – remains consistent. Soft but assertive. Elegant but dangerous.
The Follow-Up to a #1
Following the success of her last single, ‘MOONWALKIN’, which soared to #1 on iTunes, the pressure to deliver was real. But if 19MIL is feeling the weight of that momentum, she isn’t showing it.
“The quick traction I’ve got in such little time doesn’t make me nervous – it actually pushes me harder,” she says. “If you’ve done something once… You can do it again. Even BËTTËR.”
And ‘THE RITZ’ might just be that next-level evolution.
Beyond the Nightlife
While 19MIL’s music often romanticises the midnight hour, ‘THE RITZ’ shifts the backdrop. There’s still that wild, rebellious energy—but this time, it’s set against velvet wallpaper and gold-trimmed ceilings.
“We still channelled my wild side, but switched up the scenery to something more unexpected… still on brand with 19MIL.”
Picture a suite at The Ritz Carlton, laughter echoing down the halls, a bottle of champagne on ice, and a mirror that knows exactly who you are. That’s the world this track lives in.
“’THE RITZ’ aims to encourage the listener to envision themselves in the best, most authentic and self-loving version of themselves.”
One Foot in the Future, One in Her Own Lane
19MIL doesn’t sound like anyone else. And that’s the point.
While she draws inspiration from artists like Yeat – not musically, but philosophically – her path is undeniably hers.
“Yeat is an entire mindset… Within ‘THE RITZ’, we’ve created something I’ve never quite heard anywhere else before. Breaking boundaries and swerving lanes.”
With ‘THE RITZ’, 19MIL isn’t just stepping into a new chapter—she’s writing her own rulebook. And if this track is any indication, she’s only just getting started.
