Gearing up to the release of her debut album, Runrummer gives us a synth-pop taste of what’s in store with her latest track, ‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’.

Runrummer is creating a distinctive alt-pop sound. Laden with indie nuances, electronic grooves and an undercurrent of nostalgia, her whimsical soundscapes have seen her reach dizzying heights. From being lauded as a one-to-watch by BBC Introducing to opening the Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the rising artist’s infectious and laid-back sound is showing no sign of slowing down.

Offering listeners a glimpse into her forthcoming debut album, Elevator, her latest track shows that the project is set to be groovy and a whirlwind of emotions. Titled, ‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’, Runrummer dedicates the narrative to the moment you fall for your best friend, hoping they feel the same way but knowing that it probably won’t be the case.

Drenched in nostalgic synth-pop, the shimmering track whisks up an ethereal sound where Runrummer’s sunken vocals float a top. Full of rich melodies, the lyrics debate her conflicting sentiments candidly, before she eventually realises that this tale of unrequited love will forever be her destiny.

Runrummer shares on the new single, “‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’ is a song about falling for your best friend, thinking that you’re both on the same page and then coming to the realisation that they just don’t feel the same way, and you will be left forever longing for a love which cannot be.”
