Bea and her Business discusses channeling new energy and the moment she fell in love with music for the Amazon Music Breakthrough UK: 2025 Artists To Watch list in collaboration with NOTION.

Bea and her Business is more than a singer, she’s a powerhouse, living her childhood dream of becoming a superstar. Navigating the complexities of coming-of-age stories, the TikTok sensation burst onto the scene during the lockdown and has since become a globe-trotting artist, conquering the music world one irony-infused pop ballad at a time. Her sophomore EP, Me Vs Me, showcases her evolution as an artist and a storyteller, blending infectious melodies with relatable lyrics.

As she strides into 2025, Bea is not just focused on music; she’s exploring a myriad of opportunities beyond the stage. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to authenticity, resonating with fans who see themselves in her lyrics.

Since her first NOTION cover last year, she has caused a riot. So, we caught up with the ‘Born To Be Alive’ singer to discuss her artistic evolution and the exciting projects on the horizon. She has big plans and even bigger aspirations to become the world-renowned superstar her younger self always knew she could be.

Do you remember the moment you fell in love with music?

I’ve always loved singing. I did it a lot growing up, in the car and for school talent shows. I feel like I really fell in love with music when I wrote ‘Born To Be Alive’. That was the moment I was like, ‘Woah, I’ve just written something that properly captures a feeling I hadn’t been able to express in forever.’ When the lyrics and melody fell into place, I had a weird butterfly feeling in my stomach and suddenly I understood why people wrote songs.

What are you manifesting for 2025?

I’m manifesting writing some massive tunes that I’m obsessed with, which is easier said than done! Playing more live shows and trying to get better at it, another tour would be pretty magic!

Who are your ones to watch?

Loving Sophia Isella, she’s awesome. Lola Young is killing it, and Paris Paloma too!

What is your dream venue to play this year?

A headline show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire would be the dream – it’s such a beautiful venue and so iconic.

What’s the proudest moment of your career so far?

Filming my first-ever music video. It felt totally like me. Seeing something go from thoughts and ideas to a creative board and then to a real-life music video that looks exactly how you imagined was so satisfying. I loved every part of the process. Also, I got to tour in America last year and people showed up! That was crazy, they’re halfway across the bloody world! That was another massive pinch-me moment.

What do you hope people take away from your music?

I hope my music can be an itch that they can’t scratch. The songs they couldn’t find the words to say and I hope it makes them laugh, maybe cry and, importantly, make them feel empowered.

What’s your most unexpected musical inspiration?

I still love it, but I went through a phase of loving indie rock. I was constantly referencing artists like Bruce Springsteen and The Killers in my music sessions. They’re tough acts to live up to but I love how their songs feel like a continued train of thought, an unapologetic spiel with this magnetic raw energy. Who knows maybe you’ll see that side to me one day!

If you could channel the energy of anyone in 2025 who would it be?

I think a combination of Hugh Grant and Vivienne Westwood. He’s all charming and funny, dry and sarcastic and she’s all punk, fun, outspoken and punchy.

What song or album changed your perspective on making music?

Alright, Still by Lily Allen. It made me realise that it’s okay to write songs that recall your Friday night or talk about your grandma – there are no boundaries, I guess. They don’t all have to be about love and breakups. I always re-listen to that album when I’m feeling uninspired or low.

What’s next for you?

Music-wise, more writing, recording, releasing and performing! Non-music-wise, I’m trying to live life a bit more. It sounds like a cliche but it can be hard to do when you get so wrapped up in schedules. I want to create more space for hobbies and time with my friends. Maybe I’ll start a book club, who knows? I also want to learn the map of the world just so I can be that annoying person in a conversation, so maybe I’ll start with that!
