For the Amazon Music Breakthrough UK: Artists To Watch 2025 list in collaboration with NOTION, we sat down with Luvcat to discuss her dream venue to play and the songs that changed her perception of music.

Here to shake up the alt music landscape with romantic undertones and gritty melodies, Luvcat is the jolt of energy we didn’t know we needed. Channelling storytelling lyrics, sultry guitar riffs, and powerful vocals, she evokes the spirit of a 1950s jazz club with a modern twist. On her breakout single ‘Matador’, Luvcat drew us to enter into her ethereal world, and on standout ‘He’s My Man’, she sharpens her pen with playfully murderous confessional songwriting.

A celebration of individuality with a sprinkling of inspiration from Tom Waits and Tim Burton, Luvcat’s creations invites fans to embrace all of her stylistic callings, whether that’s a signature red lip or femme fatale lyricism. As she continues to evolve and push creative boundaries, Luvcat is positioning herself at the forefront of a musical renaissance in the UK. With a European tour on the horizon, she’s ready to bring her bewitching and unapologetic whimsy to the stage.

Looking back on her past year making music, Luvcat takes stock of her dating triumphs and the proudest moment of her career so far in her digital cover interview for Amazon Music UK: 2025 Artists to Watch.

Do you remember the moment you fell in love with music?

I can’t say I can. Maybe I was just born in love.

Tell us a bit about your latest track, ‘Dinner @ Brasserie Zédel’. What do you hope people take away from it?

That if you fancy someone it’s definitely a great idea to write an unhinged song demanding them to take you out for dinner in Soho and then ask them to play bass on it.

What are you manifesting for 2025?

To speak better French and play a song on Jools Holland.

Who are your ones to watch?

A south east London band called Sleaze.

What is your dream venue to play this year?

Kentish Town Forum definitely.

What’s the proudest moment of your career so far?

Probably selling out our first London headline show in four minutes before I even had a chance to announce tickets were on sale. That’ll stay with me forever.

What do you hope people take away from your music?

I hope it soothes, and sometimes stings!

What’s your most unexpected musical inspiration?

Lemony Snicket’s: A Series of Unfortunate Events soundtrack.

If you could channel the energy of anyone in 2025, whose would it be?

Dick Van Dyke.

What song or album changed your perspective on making music?

When I heard Mule Variations by Tom Waits. It encapsulated all the things I love in one record. The album has two sides- the tender and sweet and the crazed and lopsided. I read Tom’s lyrics like scripture in my spare time. He’s the most brilliant storyteller and he perfectly weaves the strange and surreal with the honest and the true. And you can hear his feet squeaking on the piano pedals too. I love that shit.

What’s next for you?

Making love and lots of money (hopefully).
