Danish jazz and soul artist BAUN has released his debut album, BEGINNINGS, and it’s a game-changer.

Blending jazz, soul, R&B, and funk, BEGINNINGS marks an exciting new chapter for BAUN, showcasing his evolution as both a musician and songwriter. With heartfelt lyrics and infectious grooves, the debut album is as much about personal growth as it is about the power of music to connect and uplift.

At the helm of the project is Søren Baun, the pianist and singer whose diverse musical journey includes everything from leading Acoustic Lounge to performing alongside some of Denmark’s top jazz musicians. The album spans BAUN’s career, from his earliest student compositions to new tracks that tackle themes of authenticity and presence in the digital age. Each song is infused with live instrumentation, featuring Baun’s signature Fender Rhodes and vintage synthesizers like the Juno60 and Moog, giving the album a rich, timeless sound that feels both modern and classic.

The standout single, ‘Don’t Give Up The Fight’, is a lively fusion of funk, jazz, and neo-soul that channels the spirit of Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan. Written early in Baun’s career, the track offers a powerful message of perseverance with the line, “Don’t give up the fight for what you feel is right,” backed by an irresistibly danceable groove.

Produced in collaboration with Kristor Brødsgaard, BEGINNINGS features over 25 musicians, translating BAUN’s extensive live performance experience into a lush, full-bodied album. Having played across the globe, from New York to Rio, BAUN’s passion for live performance is palpable throughout the record, making Beginnings a debut worth experiencing.
