Take a look behind the scenes of our shoot with Jyoty as her and her stylist talk all things pre-loved fashion and hunting for an absolute steal on eBay.
For someone who thrives on instinct, it’s no surprise that Jyoty’s digital cover with NOTION and eBay felt more like a freestyle than a scripted moment. The genre-blurring DJ and producer – known for her unfiltered energy behind the decks and unpredictable fashion sense – stepped in front of the lens for a shoot that was as authentic as her sound: raw, rooted and impossible to pin down.
Shot in collaboration with eBay as part of their In Session With series, the shoot spotlighted the creative intersection between self-expression, pre-loved fashion and subcultural identity. Behind the scenes, her go-to stylist Sachin Gogna brought that vision to life, curating a wardrobe alongisde Jyoty that reflected her fearless fusion of influences and celebrated her sonic identity: all sourced entirely from pre-loved gems on eBay.

“Second-hand fashion on eBay is like a treasure hunt: you score unique pieces with a story and help the planet,” Sachin says. Think archival Roberto Cavalli, Miu Miu, Gucci x adidas, as well as Nike, ASICS and New Balance sneakers that nod to her streetwear roots working in Amsterdam. Add in a Vetements jersey layered with early-2000s flair and the result is a moodboard of contrasts: nostalgic yet contemporary, sporty but luxe, feminine without being boxed in.
For the cover, one look stood out as the perfect blend of individuality and expression. “Jyoty’s style is broad, but there’s always a sporty undertone,” Sachin says. “For this shoot, with trainers as the focus, we tapped into a side of her we often see at her shows. I’m glad we chose the oversized Vetements jersey for the cover – it’s a silhouette she wears a lot, so it felt instantly and authentically her.” The oversized cut and casual ease mirrored her on-stage presence, giving the digital cover an unmistakable stamp of ‘Jyoty’.

Reflecting how Jyoty actually dresses, whether she’s jumping between cities for shows or exploring vintage shops in east London, every outfit she wore reflected her personal taste and interests. Stylist Sachin explains: “What’s nice about this project is that Jyoty already loves and shops vintage designer pieces herself. I know she likes some specific Japanese designers so some of the first designers I searched for were Junya Watanabe, Noir Kei Ninomiya and Comme des Garçons as well as Prada and Miu Miu etc as a starting point. There was such a fab range of things on eBay so it actually became a bit overwhelming, I decided to start with the trainers first and found a bunch I liked and then worked the clothing around that, with sneakers as the focus!”
The most unexpected steal they found on eBay? “The adidas boxer trainer boots”, Sachin exclaims. “They are currently trending so to find them quite easily in Jyoty size and available in the UK was quite a solid find!” A rare, unique find that was made all the more satisfying thanks to eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee, where experts verify that the luxury sneakers you buy are the real deal and arrive safely, at no extra cost.

A lifelong fan of eBay and vintage shopping, Jyoty’s connection to pre-loved fashion runs deep: “I’ve been using eBay for all my pre-loved items since I was a teenager,” she smiled in our digital cover interview, “So my relationship with eBay stretches back 20 years!”
That authenticity ran deep: “I reflected that by choosing pieces that already had a life,” Sachin explains. “Vintage designer and statement trainers that felt lived-in rather than straight off the rack. We mixed high-fashion with street elements she naturally gravitates towards, so every look felt like an extension of her real-world style, not a costume for the shoot.” The result? Outfits that looked less like they belonged on a moodboard and more like they were pulled straight from her own suitcase.

The shoot’s eclectic spectrum – from the glamour of high-end vintage to the raw energy of pre-loved streetwear – was a deliberate choice. “That range lets me play with contrasts like edgy but still sporty, and always with a little glam woven in,” Sachin says. “Going from Cavalli to Vetements means I can stretch across the spectrum, from luxury to raw street style, and still create one cohesive visual language. I have a sci-fi side also.” That tension between polish and grit gave every frame a sense of motion, like the shoot itself was skipping between genres in true Jyoty style.
“Shopping pre-loved on eBay means you’re pulling pieces with history, they’ve lived lives, they’ve got personality. For someone like Jyoty, who’s all about realness, that authenticity seeps into the styling. It’s not just clothes; it’s stories, energy, and character you can’t fake or buy new.” That’s exactly the message Sachin hopes viewers take away from the cover. “I hope they see that style is about self-expression, not rules. Mixing eras, brands, and pre-loved finds can create something entirely your own. If Jyoty can bring her real, unapologetic self into every look, it shows anyone exploring their style on platforms like eBay that they can do the same – and that individuality is the ultimate luxury.”
