The Telford-born musicians drops the second single from his upcoming EP, Closure.
After being named as one of the BBC’s Ones to Watch for last year, Dan Crossley has quickly risen up the ranks. He’s clocked up nearly half a million Spotify streams, released a banger in the form of “7 Minutes” and has become a first favourite on the playlist at Notion HQ.
Growing up in Telford listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder and Amy Winehouse, Crossley was always interested in music. While he initially started writing in his teen years, he’s honed his writing skills to reflect his emotions and successfully detail his childhood struggles. They touch upon a range of human experiences, from unrequited love to coming of age. His own coming-of-age story came intro fruition at the age of 17, when he left his Suburban upbringing behind to come to the city and pursue his dreams of being a full-time musician. His latest release, the soaring “Call Back” proves that he made the right decision.
An ode to heartbreak and lost love, “Call Back” highlights the 23-year-olds ability to call up diverse genres, with infusions of pop and R&B bubbling throughout. Featuring a slow-building beat and powerful, longing vocals, Crossley perfectly conveys the shared experience of millions. “Call Back’ was written about that situation we’ve all been in; waiting for someone you’re interested in to call you back, but they never do.” Crossley explains. “The track focuses on longing to hear their voice and wondering what could have been.”
The second single the be lifted from Crossley’s upcoming EP Closure, “Call Back” proves that this release is going to be faultless.
