New Zealand's alt-rock sensation Coast Arcade is back and ready to shake up the music scene with their latest single, 'City Limits'.
Following the success of their chart-topping hit ‘Baited’, the band’s new release encapsulates a universal feeling of restlessness and the desire to break free from familiar surroundings. With airplay across the USA, Australia, and Europe, including a spot on BBC Introducing, Coast Arcade continues to garner international attention.
Front woman Bella Bavin delivers razor-sharp guitar riffs and raw, emotive vocals, while Thom Boynton’s explosive drumming and Leo Spykerman’s commanding bass lines create an anthemic sound that resonates deeply. “’City Limits’ is for anyone who’s ever felt trapped by their hometown,” Bella shares. “It’s about embracing that restlessness and pushing toward something new.”
The accompanying music video, directed by David Argue, promises to mesmerise audiences with its cinematic flair, echoing the band’s high-energy aesthetic. Recorded at Auckland’s BigFan Studios, ‘City Limit’ was engineered by Tyler Burke and mixed by industry heavyweight Clint Murphy, solidifying its polished yet powerful sound. Coast Arcade has rapidly become a staple in New Zealand’s indie scene, performing alongside major acts like The Beths and Amy Shark, and captivating festival-goers at events like Rhythm and Vines. Their debut EP, Next to Me, showcased multiple hits and cemented their status as one of Aotearoa’s most exciting new acts.
With new music on the horizon and plans for an album in 2025, Coast Arcade is primed to expand their global reach. ‘City Limits’ marks a significant milestone in their journey, promising to resonate with audiences far and wide. This electrifying release is a testament to their relentless ambition and artistry.
