CR Srikanth’s 'Dancing in the Dark' looks for clarity in the chaos, combining nostalgic synths and emotional depth.

US-based Indian composer and sonic architect CR Srikanth returns with ‘Dancing in the Dark – VS Pop™’, a cinematic synthpop anthem that pulses with both emotional clarity and vintage swagger. Rooted in the genre he coined – VS Pop™ (Very Smooth Pop) – the track fuses ’80s-inspired synth textures, orchestral swells, and ambient depth into a singular, genre-blurring statement. With vocals by Junior Paez, CR Srikanth’s latest work transcends traditional pop formulas to explore themes of self-discovery and resilience.

‘Dancing in the Dark’ feels like a transmission from another dimension – one where clarity blooms amid chaos. The analogue-style synth basslines, shimmering arpeggios, and crisp electronic drums conjure a retro-futuristic dreamscape that simultaneously looks back and pushes forward. “It’s not about the literal darkness,” Srikanth says, “but the emotional kind—the unknown.” That tension between uncertainty and motion lies at the heart of the track, making it as suited for solitary reflection as it is for late-night dancefloors.

A Berklee-trained composer with over 250 original works to his name, Srikanth draws from a rich musical lineage, spanning Western classical to Indian traditions, to craft immersive sonic worlds. With growing global traction, ‘Dancing in the Dark’ confirms Srikanth as a visionary voice in contemporary pop, one that moves with purpose, even through the shadows.
