Kyra Gordon has unveiled her new single, 'F U Cancer', a powerful anthem that captures the emotional turbulence of battling cancer.

‘F U Cancer’ has evolved from a lighthearted gesture to a poignant declaration, coinciding with Kyra Gordon’s own experience as a survivor of early-stage breast cancer. Initially penned to bring humour and comfort to her best friend undergoing chemotherapy, her journey took a significant turn when she received her own diagnosis. “I started writing it to make her laugh,” she recalls. “But when I was diagnosed, I realised this song had to reflect my own fight. It became my way of telling cancer to go f**k itself.”

‘F U Cancer’ dives into the complex emotions tied to the disease — infusing elements of humour, anger, and sorrow. “I wanted this song to hit on all those beats,” she explains. “Cancer impacts everyone, and I wanted to give listeners permission to feel whatever they’re feeling.” The track is the sixth single from her upcoming album, Traveler, and showcases an explosive live-recording energy that mirrors the unpredictability of life with cancer. Starting as a soft ballad, it crescendos into a full-blown rock opera finale, echoing the dramatic twists of her journey. Gordon reveals, “The outro was inspired by Guns N’ Roses’ ‘November Rain’. I wanted that soaring, cathartic energy to resonate.”

To further engage with her audience, Kyra is inviting fans to participate in a crowdsourced music video for ‘F U Cancer’, encouraging them to submit clips of themselves flipping the bird in solidarity against cancer. As a follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut album, Soul of a Showgirl, Traveler promises to continue showcasing Gordon’s talent for blending personal storytelling with genre-defying music. With ‘F U Cancer,’ Kyra Gordon offers not just a song, but a rallying cry for anyone affected by cancer—an anthem of anger, resilience, and ultimately, hope.
