Babymorocco, Ray Laurel and LVRA hit our stage at The Shacklewell Arms last week, celebrating The Great Escape Festival's FIRST FIFTY announcement for 2024.

Synonymous with spotlighting rising talent, Brighton’s The Great Escape is the festival for new music. While we’ve got a while to go before spending a week by the sea listening to live music, TGE gave us a taster of what’s to come last week with its FIRST FIFTY event – a series of live shows across eight London venues showcasing some of the most exciting artists set to perform in May.

Our stage, held at Hackney’s The Shacklewell Arms, saw performances from alt-pop multi-hyphenate LVRA, genre-blending singer-songwriter Ray Laurél, and raucous rising artist Babymorocco. Under neon pink lights in an intimate space, the energy in the room was infectious as each act reshaped the vibe with their own idiosyncratic sounds and dynamic sets.

With over 500 up-and-coming artists set to play, The Great Escape’s 2024 lineup is already shaping up to be one of it’s fullest yet. Spanning every genre you could think of – from pop to rock, R&B to rap, there’s something for everyone and plenty of room to discover not just new artists, but whole new scenes.
