Blending early 2000s nostalgia with raw emotion, Milwaukee newcomer Fordo makes a bold entrance with 2001: a debut album that’s equal parts throwback and deeply personal, capturing the highs, lows, and honest moments of growing up.
Milwaukee artist Fordo is making a strong first impression with his debut album 2001. The project blends early 2000s pop and rap sounds with honest, personal lyrics that hit close to home. Fordo’s mix of catchy hooks and real emotions makes 2001 feel like a throwback and something totally new at the same time.
The album’s title comes from the year Fordo was born, and it’s clear that the music from that time shaped his style. “I walk the line between my own vulnerability and confidence,” Fordo says. “Being born in 2001, that era shaped me and it shows in the music I make.”
One song that’s already catching attention is ‘Nobody’s Watching’, produced with Victor Thell. A teaser for the track went viral on TikTok with over 1.5 million views, showing that people are hungry for music that’s real and relatable. The song is all about being yourself, no matter who’s watching or what anyone else thinks.
2001 feels like a diary set to music, taking you through love, heartbreak, mistakes, and growth. “We live in a world where so many people are waiting for permission to be themselves,” Fordo says. “I’m not here to chase trends, I’m here to give people something they can feel. Something that lets them be honest, be vulnerable, and still break free and have fun.”
What makes Fordo stand out is how he balances being open about his struggles with bringing energy and fun to his songs. “Some tracks are high-energy and fun, others are stripped back and honest,” he says. “It’s the most complete version of myself I’ve put into music so far.”
With 2001, Fordo is stepping up as a new voice who’s not afraid to be real. The album is out now on all streaming platforms.
