JESSIE BERG reveals her daily routine, biggest pet peeves, love for her Sphinx cat and more.
LA-born and as bold as her bright red hair, rising artist JESSIE BERG has always been destined for the spotlight. Honing her craft from an early age by performing in musicals and singing in the choir, after high school, Jessie worked in her cousins’ recording studio, immersing herself in the world that would one day be hers.
The singer-songwriter is pretty au fait with going it alone. Since her debut in 2019, Jessie has racked up 2 million streams already as an independent artist. From here, it seems the only way is up.
In her new single “Runaway”, Jessie sings softly, eliciting Ariana Grande with her sugary-sweet vocals. A relatable tune that reveals Jessie’s desire to get away from it all. She commented: “This single means a lot to me because it was very accurate to how I was feeling when I wrote it. It’s simple — it’s about needing a break from your everyday routine and surroundings, hence ‘Runaway’. I was travelling back and forth during that time and that really helped me put a lot of things into perspective when I had that time away from my everyday distractions. It’s not about running away from your problems either, it’s ok to run away/ take a break and refocus yourself then come back with a plan”.
We got to know JESSIE BERG a bit better, as she chats about her love of fashion and for her fans, and what she always picks at karaoke. Dive in!
What’s your pizza topping?
Kinda boring, but I usually go for cheese or a white pizza with ricotta. Never been a big toppings person!
What’s your daily routine?
The daily routine kinda changes all the time, but if it’s a weekday I wake up at 9:00am, make breakfast, feed my cat, check emails and do some work. Recently it’s been a little different because I was preparing for the release of my song and video leading up to the day it came out, so that took up a lot of time. Sometimes I have friends that ask me to shoot for their brands or have me create different content for brands that reach out to me. I just moved to NY in January so now that the weather is finally nice I like to get out of my house at least once a day, weather it be going on a walk in my neighbourhood, hanging out with my boyfriend/ friends, going to the park, or listening to my favourite music and getting inspiration for my own songs. Been getting back into working out as well so been implementing that into my day whenever I can!
Favourite song at the moment?
Anything on 070 Shakes’ new album
If you could revive one fashion trend, which would it be?
Honestly, I don’t know if I could just choose one. I love fashion and it’s freedom of expression so anything goes in my book
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I have a lot lol, but when I put my hair in a ponytail and there’s that annoying bump on the top of my head in the middle and probably when restaurants use unripe avocados in your meal 🥺
What are you currently obsessed with?
My cat! But I’ll always be obsessed with her. She’s a sphynx and perfect <3
What has been your biggest pinch-me moment so far?
Honestly anytime I get fans DMing me or expressing their love for my music and just supporting me in general. It’s such an amazing feeling when you can touch people’s lives or connect without even really knowing them, which has always been what I’d hoped to do. It’s only just the beginning but I don’t think that ‘pinch me’ feeling will ever go away.
Finish the sentence: I feel happiest when…
I’m in the moment and there are no other thoughts running through my head other than what is right in-front of me.
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Anything Amy Winehouse!
Which celebrity would you love to be friends with?
Rihanna.
