Silky vocals, late-night cravings, and a genre-defying sound makes up Jacqui’s new single ‘fries, bb’, which flirts with emotional honesty.
Jacqui’s sound flirts with genre, convulsing between rap, sweet croons and playful chatter – R&B, yes, but through a kaleidoscopic lens. It’s a sonic stew that resists easy labelling: soulful, off-kilter, slick and strange in all the right ways.
After amassing over half a million Spotify streams and lighting up stages from SXSW Sydney to Bangkok Music City, the South Korea-born, China-raised, US-schooled artist dropped her latest single, ‘fries, bb’, today. It’s an intimate vignette set in a late-night burger shop, where fries are ordered not from hunger, but from longing. “Just so you know, I am into you,” Jacqui confesses, with distortion-tinted vocals and sugar-drenched beats that echo with playful yearning.
Her 2020 track ‘White Clouds’ caught the ears of Netflix’s My Holo Love, while 2025’s ‘Sagwa’ landed on Amazon Prime’s BUTTERFLY, showing her ability to thread emotion into every sonic detail. Inspired by Erykah Badu and in the orbit of artists like FKA twigs and Mahalia, Jacqui’s musicality feels intuitive and fearless, the product of late-night genre dives and a lifetime of cross-cultural immersion.
Catch her live this month at The Great Escape Festival, but first, hit play on ‘fries, bb’ – you won’t regret it!
