Skatta and Yeti On The Pads kickstart the party with their latest garage grime anthem, ‘Getting Ready.’
There’s something about the rush before a rave: the buzzing nerves, the last-minute catchups, the bass already thumping in your head before you’ve even left the house. Skatta and Yeti On The Pads (YOTP) bottle that exact feeling in their latest grime-fuelled garage anthem, ‘Getting Ready.’
The track is a love letter to the UKG heyday, and a sneak peek at their upcoming EP, For The Ravers, another tribute to the raw energy of UK rave culture. Distorted synths throb through the track, while Skatta’s razor-sharp lyricism slices clean through the mix. YOTP’s production is tight and garage-rooted but with a modern edge that drags the sound kicking and screaming into 2025.
The pair first connected at BBC Amplify in 2017, and their chemistry was clear from the start. Since then, they’ve released the well-received Flavourz EP, performed across London and Europe, earnt a nomination at the Urban Music Awards, and seen Skatta win The Artist Fund to support his career. Throughout, they’ve steadily made their mark on the garage scene, and with ‘Getting Ready’, they’re continuing to push it forward.
On the new track, Skatta and YOTP explain: “‘Getting Ready’ is about the excitement of going to a rave, pre-rave rituals, meeting up before going to shell down shows and events.”
