Crashing onto the music scene with their raucous melodies and infectious rhythms, MID CITY is back with “Good For It”, the third slice from their upcoming EP.
Forming in Melbourne, the quartet have secured a number of high-profile placements across their home country, including a top 10 spot on Australia’s leading youth network triple j.
With an impressive live reputation to match, the group headed off on an 18-date international tour in 2019 as well as playing packed out shows at BIGSOUND, Reeperbahn Festival and NYE On The Hill.
“Good For It” offers soaring vocals against powerful and uplifting fusion of guitars, percussion and harmonies. The track is presented like an insight into the brain of someone who is going through the rush of emotions for the first time. This almost-tangible range of emotions, from frustration to excitement, to indecision and the lasting threads of desire, all ties into the wider identity of MID CITY’s sound.
“COVID’s been a bitch for everyone here in Victoria”, Joel (vocals) explains. “But not even a deadly global pandemic will stop this MID CITY train. Four guys, four bedrooms, one surprisingly delicate iso-inspired clip for you. In a funny, fateful way, isolation was a blessing. It forced us to stand back from the day-to-day hustle, turn inward and create something that reflected the outcast and heartbroken vibes of both the song and our time together/apart this year. Who knew a big, brash rock band could be so introspective? Not us.”
The video for “Good For It” is set for release alongside their EP “Wishing For The Best”.
