Loti reflects on his resilience and ambition despite recent setbacks on his new genre-blending EP Gorimapa Gangsta Vol 2: Lotstar
A name to know in Nigeria’s music scene, Loti has carved out a space of his own in a crowded arena through his boundary-pushing approach to music and a distinct flair for storytelling. This latest offering from the artist dives into the trials and tribulations of life as a creative in the dynamic music landscape of his home country.
Loti debuted in 2020, with his project Sins & Scenes, before breaking through with the critically acclaimed EP, and precursor to his newest release, Gorimapa Gangsta. The standout single ‘Mainland’ amassed over 50,000 views on YouTube, was broadcast on televisions across West and East Africa and garnered over two million social media interactions through the viral #MainlandChallenge. This momentum was carried through to Honeymoon Phase, where Loti cemented himself as a force in the Lagos industry.
With Gorimapa Gangsta Vol 2: Lotstar, Loti captures the emotional journey of a musician navigating self-doubt, music industry politics and the relentless pursuit of success. After being dropped by his previous label, this EP looks at the isolation and challenges that come with hustling in one of the world’s toughest cities, as well as the path to renewal and recognition.
Loti also takes the opportunity to thank those who stood by him, encouraging his listeners to pursue their dreams relentlessly. Featuring rising stars Taves and Kokoe, his honest portrayal of the struggles of the creative demonstrates that he is more driven than ever.
