Royal blends his musical influences to create a punchy and unique sound on his new single "Gutter".
A preacher’s son, it was only natural that Royal would have a gift for music after growing up surrounded by gospel music. However, it was when Royal would mix in his own musical interests of hip-hop and punk, that his sound would be born.
Refusing to be bound to one genre, Royal’s latest single, “Gutter”, features a melange of sounds – from warped guitar melodies to crashing drum patterns, it’s his punchy vocals that take the spotlight.
“’Gutter’ was born at a late night, boozy band rehearsal when life was very unpredictable for myself and the people around me”, Royal explains of the song’s conception.
Over the past two years, Royal has turned his dream of touring the world into a reality, accompanying East London musician Hak Baker on stage as his drummer. Now, it’s time for him to step into his own light.
