DIY musician, Zyra, reveals her turn-it-up-louder new track, “Heart’s On Fire”.
For Zyra, the young artist who dropped out of university to chase a music career – and in doing so has reached over 150 million streams for her single, “Say My Name” – there are no regrets. The Londoner holds up Flume and Halsey – who also balances having bipolar with working in the music industry – as her heroes.
After a successful run of dance-pop singles, Zyra is bursting back with “Heart’s On Fire”, the title song of her debut EP. Inspired by the production of Joel Corry and Shift K3Y, this track marks a change for Zyra as she goes it alone. This is her first solo music, having previously collaborated with ODESZA.
For Zyra, writing and producing her own music was about female empowerment: “I produced the track in Ableton and then wrote the song, cut the vocals and mixed and mastered it. There are plenty of male producers in their fifties, but female producers, especially in pop, are so much rarer. There need to be more girls inspired to create their own music and take control of the process, and hopefully, I can be someone’s inspiration someday.”
With a racing beat and rumbling bass to tug you in, “Heart’s On Fire” is an irresistible new single.
