Fallin’ Astronauts launch into a new era with soaring single ‘Higher.'
Vienna’s rising indie-pop duo Fallin’ Astronauts are making a giant leap forward with the guitar-led anthem, ‘Higher’. Comprised of lead vocalist Maximilian Hamedinger and guitarist Emil Breit, the pair are using the track to set the tone for their debut five-track EP MONO, arriving this October. It’s a bold reintroduction; one that blends their knack for cinematic melodies with a stripped-back, emotionally charged sound.
‘Higher’ draws from the dream-pop textures of Coldplay, Kodaline, and Imagine Dragons, but twists them into something uniquely their own. Lush yet minimalist, it’s a track that feels as weightless as its title suggests, its soaring choruses balanced by intricate, unexpected instrumentation. The duo describe MONO as “raw, honest, and unfiltered,” a body of work that reflects a fully realised sound and vision, with ‘Higher’ as its first, confident step.
The band’s name is rooted in a Banksy-style image of an astronaut holding shopping bags: a tongue-in-cheek nod to finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. It’s a fitting metaphor for Maximilian and Emil’s unpredictable path, from their beginnings as classically trained musicians to their first creative project, Lonely Moon Bandits, and eventually to Fallin’ Astronauts. Each step has brought them closer to the sound they now call their own.
Following a string of intimate live performances and a steadily growing audience, Fallin’ Astronauts are gearing up for their busiest chapter yet. With Higher as the launch point and MONO on the horizon, the duo are preparing for an international tour across Europe and Asia, as they enter their brightest era yet.
