Fresh from her contribution to Peggy Gou's 'Gudu & Friends Vol. 1' compilation, Closet Yi curates us a mix of her favourite techno stompers and acid wobblers.
How did you choose the tracks to put this mix together?
It’s always about my mood and feelings while I make the mix. Usually, I have certain tracks that I really want to really include, so I organise them first. This time it was Mount XLR’s new track “Acid Wasp”, but I wanted to sneak in some of my own tracks that are expected to come out this summer. Other than that, I hovered over my library and picked what felt right.
Was there any external influence or inspirations?
Yes, I have some releases forthcoming so it mainly started from there. I have one EP coming out for Hotflush Recordings, which is quite a UK, breaky label, so the first half part of the mix is aligned in that direction. Towards the end, it becomes more danceable and trancy, with a mixture of artists like X-dream, Source, Doi-Oing, and another track of mine.
Where do you imagine people listening to the mix?
I’ve been enjoying monitoring the mix in my car while driving, so I’ve proved it’s good for cruising! It could be a good one for whoever needs a festival or clubbing warm-up.
