Fall in love with a pair of masked inter-dimensional beings in this week's Internet Crush.
Social media has changed the way we interact with our favourite artists. More than just musicians, they’re now personalities, people we can interact with on the daily. Now more than ever we’re aware that musicians are pretty normal people, they just have a weird job. Every week we get to know one of our favourite SoundCloud heroes, internet dating style, in our new column, Internet Crush.
Not content with dominating the left-field electro-pop world by himself, Mura Masa has been steadily building Anchor Point, a record label packed with intriguing oddball talent. Having already introduced us to Bonzai, Anchor Point’s next break out stars look set to be Jadu Heart, a mysterious duo going only by the names Dina and Faro. Masked musicians making dusty SoundCloud friendly electro, trip hop weirdness? Obviosuly we had to hit them up for this week’s Internet Crush.
What’s the story behind your Dina and Faro alter-egos?
Dina and Faro are two kids from Koshui which is one of many planets in the Yahroo system. They discovered a magic MPC that cursed them into crystal monsters when they tried to play it. We met them in Walthamstow a few years ago, and have been telling their story through music ever since.
Where did the masks come from?
Seeing as the whole thing is about Dina and Faro, it only seemed right to look like them too. I mean, they look pretty weird… So that’s where the masks came from.
Who is the best-masked musician of all time?
Of all time? Shit, probably some ancient middle eastern or tribal African stuff. But modern music? I guess Goat and DOOM.
Will you ever release your true identities?
Yeah probably. I mean the whole masked thing is not so much a means to hide our true identities or anything – well maybe a bit. It’s more of an opportunity for us to get into character.
How did you get signed to Anchor Point?
We met Alex through our tutor at uni and told him about Dina, Faro and the 7 dimensions, and instantly he wanted to put out the music.
Who do you roll with?
Our cat, Beans, and Yuki Ame; he’s a beast.
