How did you choose the tracks to put this mix together?
Over the past few months, I’ve been discovering a lot of tracks that make me want to throw gunfingers at parties. I’ve also been discovering a lot of tracks that make me want to throw my ass at parties.With this mix, I wanted to bring the two together in a wild, ass throwing, gunfinger slinging combo. This isn’t about just throwing ass. This isn’t this isn’t about just gunfingers. It’s about achieving both at the same time. Major coordination required. The mix cuts across Baile Funk, UK Funky, 140, and Jersey Club with lots of Brazilian, Arabic, and South Asian sounds and samples.
It’s a really fun mix and I loved curating and blending tracks that fell under the theme.
Was there any external influence or inspirations?
This year I’ve been lucky enough to have seen and heard sets from the likes of Lady Shaka, Oh Annie Oh, Nabihah Iqbal, Bianca Oblivion, Mina, Tash LC, Goldtooth, My Panda Shall Fly, Zaleel, Manara, Ahadadream, Blue Canariñho, Daviaa, and lots more – including, of course, the Daytimers family.I’ve loved all these peoples’ sets, and with all the different sounds, and styles, the common thread has been a sense of real intent and desire to bring the energy each and every time. They’re all phenomenal DJs, producers, and great curators of music. They inspire me to always bring my best whenever I’m DJing and producing.
Where do you imagine people listening to the mix?
Anywhere and everywhere – just make sure there’s enough space to dance about!
