British-Sri Lankan artist VIB blends music, culture, and purpose in a way that feels timely and creatively fresh in the video for his new single, ‘Lassani’.
British-Sri Lankan genre-bender VIB is back with a sonic celebration that’s as bold as it is beautiful. His latest single, ‘Lassani’, pulses with South Asian pride, fusing the fiery rhythms of Singhalese and Tamil drums with a sultry RnB flow and a splash of Afrobeats cool. The result? A lush, flirtatious anthem that honours South Asian women and glows with the spirit of Sri Lankan culture.
The track’s genesis was humble – just an idea shared between VIB and his producer. But once the traditional drums hit the mix, something deeper stirred. “I knew I had to do it justice,” VIB admits. The beat demanded authenticity. But once in the booth, the vibes aligned and the words poured out.
At only 23, VIB is already reshaping the narrative. With support from BBC Asian Network and BBC London, he’s creating a movement that people are rooting for. A published poet, charity founder (Vib Save Children), and a med student currently completing his elective in Sri Lanka, his story is as multifaceted as his music. With ‘Lassani’, VIB is carving out his own lane, from which we’re keen to hear more.
