Virginia-raised artist Luck refuses to play it safe on her long-awaited debut, It Wasn’t Luck – The LP.
Luck isn’t here to play it safe. The Virginia-raised, genre-melding artist has released her long-awaited debut album, It Wasn’t Luck – The LP. Soul-baring and sonically expansive, the project stakes her claim as one of the most emotionally fearless and creatively fluid voices to watch.
The project comes in at 17-tracks total and is one of more versatile bodies of work yet, she says, is the full story. “I’m very loud about where I’m at in life and what I’m feeling in my music,” Luck says. “It’s always real and relatable.”
On It Wasn’t Luck – The LP, Luck blends alt-R&B, hip-hop, pop, and rock into a sound that follows truths rather than trends. The result is a body of work that’s as introspective as it is easy to listen to, and as spiritual as it is stylish. Tracks are all anchored by themes of radical love, feminine power, and generational healing. With her signature raspy vocals and melodic bars, Luck is in her own lane with this project.
A standout on the project, ‘P.S. ILY’ offers a softer, more vulnerable moment. It’s a love letter to staying grounded and emotionally present. Elsewhere, tracks like ‘Peace and Love’ and ‘One of These Days’ featuring RMR uplift with messages of empathy, resilience, and purpose. Additional highlights include ‘All the Diamonds’ with Ant Clemons and ‘I Am’, both of which take a deeply introspective turn, peeling back the layers to reveal the core of self-worth and authenticity.
It Wasn’t Luck – The LP may be her debut, but there’s nothing hesitant about it. Luck is here, fully formed, telling her story her way, and it’s already resonating with a generation craving something deeper.
