- Words Rosie Byers
Celebrating the upcoming release of their debut album, Pools of Colour, junodream create us an eclectic mix tied together by a sense of wonder.
What DJs, artists, club nights, or genres are inspiring you right now?
A lot of soundscape, ambient and sound-designs we find inspiring at the moment. It’s nice to let your mind wonder and lose yourself to a less structured setting.
Can you talk us through some of your inspirations for this mix?
The songs in this mix create that same feeling as the world in which junodream belongs. Although we have applied more common structures, they all have a common sense of space, wonder and alienation.
Where do you imagine people listening to it?
Nestled up on a comfy armchair in the corner of their home. Headphones on. Eyes closed. Momentarily escaping to another reality. Equally a foggy morning or other moments when there’s naturally an otherwordly atmosphere.
What’s one song you’ll always come back to in your mixes?
Nils Frahm is incredible. We could have picked nearly any of his songs to go into this mix. A true creative when it comes to production and instrumentals. This is also true across his live performances. Hugely inspiring.
What should we look out for from you next?
The near-future is all about the release of our debut album Pools of Colour. It’s been years in the making and we’re incredibly proud of it. Although, as with any artist, we’re always mentally a few steps ahead of what’s actually being released publicly. At the moment we’re working on our second record. Leaning further into our dream-like state.
