Celestial Skies drop surrealist visuals for new track “Modern Romance” from their recent debut album.

Celestial Skies was created during lockdown by lead singer Chris Selman, as a collaboration between a close array of musical friends. With a recent debut album, ‘Songs For Blue Romantics’, having been released recently, the fresh visuals for lead single “Modern Romance” are as exciting as the group themselves.

Gaining experience singing in the London Gay Men’s Chorus, playing O2 Academy gigs, and BBC Manchester Introducing sessions, led by Chris, Celestial Skies embarked on their most ambitious project so far with this project. Melding sounds of electronic indie, grooving pop, and string laden ballads in tracks like “A Terrible Lie” and “Rewind And Restart”, Chris’ music videos have previously garnered attention for telling witty love stories that poke fun at the present day.

“Modern Romance” represents the upbeat side of the album, with new fast-paced visuals to go alongside. Telling the story of a complicated long-distance relationship, Chris stars alongside London musical performer Sergi Ibanez, directed by Darius Shu. Discussing the creative vision, Chris explains: “The previous ones have been quite literal takes on the lyrical content of the song. This time we wanted to do something completely different: something energetic to reflect the more upbeat nature of this track, but also something humorous, and with a bold, bright, modern aesthetic.” He continues, “we’ve made a video which is both modern and which has a playful romantic element too”.
