- Words Ryan Cahill
As she drops her new single, "Commitment", the BGT export answers our intimate Q's.
You may remember Molly Rainford as the 11-year-old singer hoping to claim the top spot on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2012. Now 18, she’s shaken off her talent show shackles and is a fully established star in her own right. With plans to release two EP’s this year, she’s already been in the studio working with the likes of Siba, who has made jams for Charli XCX and Ebenezer who is responsible for beats by Notion cover star Rejjie Snow.
Most recently she’s dropped her new jam “Commitment”, which showcases her soaring vocal capability and sets her aside as one of watch for 2019 – she may not have won BGT, but she’s winning our fandom. We grabbed a moment to sit down with the singer to discuss dreams, star signs and heartbreak.
Do you remember your dreams? Tell us about a recent dream you’ve had….
Sometimes. Randomly the one’s I remember could be really normal scenarios but they always have cool people in. One I can really remember a while ago was set in summer, in my best friends garden. She has a swimming pool and I was having a lilo race against Cameron Boyce from Grown Ups.
Tell us, what is your first memory of music?
One of the first songs I remember knowing the words to was ‘Sorry, I didn’t know’ the garage track. Glad I didn’t know what the lyrics meant.
What’s your star sign? (and are you a typical *whatever your sign is*?)
My birthday is the 22nd of November, so I’m literally on the cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius. I definitely see traits from both but I think I’m more Sag.
When was the first time you had your heart broken? (who by? how did it feel? what did you do?)
Well I’m only 18 so I haven’t been in a serious relationship to have my heart broken.
Who was your first celebrity crush?
It was probably Troy Bolton (Zac Efron).
Tell us one thing nobody / not many people know about you.
My favourite type of films are Marvel films. THEY ARE THE BEST.
What would your biography be called?
If music was chocolate, I’d eat it.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Always go with your gut instinct because 9 times out of 10 it’s right.
What has been your biggest achievement?
Getting over half a million streams on my first release ‘I Like You’.
Which fictional character do you most relate to and why?
Khaleesi from Game Of Thrones because she is a strong, powerful and caring woman.
How was high school?
It was a rollercoaster, very up and down. The banter in secondary school was hands down the funniest.
Describe your own personal idea of hell…
Being in a room with a spider.
Which super power would you most like to have, and why?
I would love the power to Heal. I think it speaks for itself.
