To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Scottish knitwear giant Lyle & Scott has teamed up with designer Nicholas Daley on a capsule that reimagines tartan through a new lens.
Heritage meets innovation in a new collaboration between Lyle & Scott and London-based designer Nicholas Daley, launched to mark the Scottish knitwear brand’s 150th anniversary. The capsule collection fuses Lyle & Scott’s legacy of craftsmanship with Daley’s contemporary design sensibility, creating pieces that honour tradition while pushing it forward.

At the heart of the collection is a bespoke tartan, developed by Daley as a nod to his Scottish-Jamaican ancestry and inspired by Lyle & Scott’s rich archive. Produced in Italy from a premium wool blend, the fabric reimagines Scotland’s most iconic textile through the lens of a designer at the peak of his powers. The result is a striking yet versatile motif that anchors the collection.
Key pieces include a knitted tartan vest, collared jumper, beanie, tam, and scarf, each blending Daley’s distinctive silhouettes with Lyle & Scott’s time-honoured knitwear expertise.

Reflecting on the project, Daley said: “It has been an incredible opportunity to collaborate with such a heritage British brand as Lyle & Scott for their 150th anniversary. Promoting Scottish design and craftsmanship has always been a significant part of my brand’s journey. This project allowed me to explore themes of ancestry, craft, and history while bringing a contemporary design perspective to these traditions.”
For Lyle & Scott, the collaboration is a celebration of past, present, and future. By partnering with Daley, known for weaving cultural narratives into his work, the brand underscores its commitment to storytelling and craftsmanship that spans generations.
