Festival season is in full swing and artists are battling it out for this year's summer anthem. Here are our picks from the past seven days, including J Hus, PinkPantheress and N-Dubz.
“Habibti” by N-Dubz
Laced with their British street verve, the track bodes well for the iconic trio's countless sets over summer this year.
“Who Told You” by J Hus, Drake
Two artists at the peak of their powers, J Hus and Drake have finally linked up and the outcome is a viral-ready afrobeats hit. “Who told you bad man don’t dance?” announces Hus on the opening line, calling reluctant roadmen straight onto the dancefloor.
“Full On” by Hak Baker
Hak Baker’s new album, ‘Worlds End FM’, is a vibrant affair, filled with anecdotes of his east London upbringing. The poet’s cockney cadence is on full display in standout track “Full On”.
“Cheat” by Mahalia, JoJo
Mahalia is giving “one more chance” to an admirer on “Cheat”. But why should she? “Once a cheat, always a cheat” as she explains on the hook, regretting her pursuit of unrequited love.
“Angel (From Barbie The Album)” by PinkPantheress
A PinkPantheress appearance on the soundtrack to Barbie felt like an inevitability. “Angel” has the Y2K flair we love her for in abundance.
“UK Rap” by Dave, Central Cee
An ode to the British rap game, this standout cut on the joint Dave and Central Cee EP shows off the wordsmiths' truest qualities.
“Nots As I” by George FitzGerald
George FitzGerald’s “Not As I” is full of ambient goodness; it's a festival revival tool made with sunsets in mind.
“Don’t Forget Me” by Dermot Kennedy
From busking to selling out stadiums, Dermot Kennedy’s trajectory gets more impressive with every album he releases. “Don’t Forget Me” is our favourite off the new project, ‘Sonder’.
“Off Wiv Ya Headz” by Nia Archives
Sampling Yeah Yeah Yeahs' indie disco classic “Heads Will Roll”, “Off Wiv Ya Headz” is poised to be one of the most played tracks this festival season.
“Clearly Rushing” by Anz
Returning to Hessle Audio three years after the ‘Loos In Twos (NRG)’ EP, “Clearly Rushing” is a pumping breakbeat banger made for maximum impact on the dancefloor.
