In Notion Now: Week 27, we've got tunes from JAY1 and KSI, Russ Millions, Shygirl and slowthai, Pink Pantheress, Maisie Peters and more.
"SWERVE" by JAY1 & KSI
This was always going to be a catchy one with KSI and JAY1 on the bill. The pair bounce off each other in this playful, fast-paced number.
"Big Shark" by Russ Millions
After a big start to the year with the chart-smashing "Body" featuring Tion Wayne, drill innovator Russ Millions is back with a bilingual new single, "Big Shark".
"BDE" by Shygirl & slowthai
If this collab alone doesn't scream 'BDE', then we don't know what does. The surprise release is Shygirl's first new material of the year and makes a strong statement of intent. Pass the crown.
"1000 Nights (feat. Jorja Smith)" by Jaykae
UK rapper Jaykae linked up with Jorja Smith for this evocative new single. "It’s got that classic garage sound but the storyline is so relevant to today", Jaykae said.
"Psycho" by Maisie Peters
Her first release since signing to Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man label, lyrically sassy singer-songwriter Maisie Peters worked with the man himself on this new pop track.
"Passion" by PinkPantheress
Elusive DIY TikTok artist, PinkPantheress, has *finally* dropped the bop her fans have been waiting on. Following in the footsteps of her trademark lo-fi / drum and bass crossover style, "Passion" only serves to feed our growing PinkPantheress addiction.
"Boyfriend (feat. Mae Muller)" by Master Peace
Genre-bending artist, Master Peace, has dropped his raucous debut EP, 'Public Display of Affection', which features three new bangers, one of which is this collab with Mae Muller. Peace said that the record "is a roller coaster of emotions; it really highlights my journey as a musician and my personal life a lot. It’s always been hard for me to articulate my personal life in a song before, so this EP really shows a side of me that people are not used to".
"Bloom" by Matilda Mann
London singer-songwriter Matilda Mann is back with this instantly loveable new bop that's "about meeting someone too soon. Sometimes you need a little more time, to figure out what you want and how to be alone, so that you don’t give too much of yourself away to someone else."
"LOST (feat. Loyle Carner, Kojey Radical & JNR Williams)" by Swindle
South London's Swindle enlists Loyle Carner, Kojey Radical and JNR Williams for this new track with a conversational feel. With a bubbling brass, funky basslines and soaring synths and strings, this combination of talent was always going to be a recipe for success.
"Return of the Man" by Cashh
Jamaican-born, Peckham-raised artist Cashh has dropped his bold new single that samples Mark Morrison’s legendary “Return of The Mack''. Cashh said that the song is "is the epitome of blind faith. I say this because I wrote and recorded the song while I was still in Jamaica, not knowing when I would actually be returning to the UK."
"Totally" by Inhaler
Dublin band Inhaler continue to tease their upcoming debut album with new track "Totally". Another anthemic indie number, it's made us even more excited to hear the full record.
"Magneto" by Blanco
A classic Blanco drop, "Magneto" showcases Blanco's laid-back flow marry hard-hitting lyrics.
"Hot Tub" by Cosha
Irish artist Cosha has shared 'Mt. Pleasant', a heated album charged with sensual new love and sexual self-belief. "Hot Tub" is a breathy, lights-down-low bop.
"Magic" by Rico Nasty
The lead single from her forthcoming project 'Rx', we see pop-punk artist Rico Nasty take a more melodic path on "Magic". A simmering summer bop.
"Ready or Not" by BackRoad Gee & Nissi
After being involved in some of the biggest street tracks of the past year, BackRoad Gee links with Nissi for new single "Ready or Not".
"Galipette" by Lolo Zouaï
Lolo Zouaï fuses a classic French ballad with some tongue-in-cheek lyrics for this high-octane piece, creating a double meaning for 'Galipette’ - which literally translates to ‘somersault’.
"Demons" by Rasharn Powell
R&B artist Rasharn Powell has shared his debut mixtape ‘Dusk & Dawn'. Lead track "Demons" is a song that encapsulates the moment you realise you’re over someone, offering us a look into his alter ego. Powell said the record is "an honest depiction of my life, my love and heartbreak. I wanted to prove to myself that when making songs, it can take any form, as long as it feels right to me. There’s all these rules and things people say you’re meant to do when making music, but I’m not afraid to break them.”
"Flux" by Eleni Drake
A slow and soothing new entry from Eleni Drake that elicits the feeling of floating down a river in the moonlight.
"One Minute (with Hope Tala)" by Hauskey
Low-key indie-pop creator, Hauskey, recruits Hope Tala for his upbeat new single "One Minute" that holds a message about friendship. "Fake, fair-weather friends. Seems to be plenty, especially in the music industry. Being from a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, I don’t handle bullshit all that well, and can’t stand people who aren’t genuine" Hauskey said.
