French heritage brand, Palladium, and counterculture icon, Smiley, have come together for an eye-catching collection of shoes.
The new PALLADIUM x SMILEY collection looks to the past but also to the future. Inspired by the acid house revolution that raged in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, it was a time when both brands became the unofficial uniform of young disenfranchised underground ravers who united under a banner of universal love. Now, at a time when we need that same sentiment once more, Palladium and Smiley unite.
Part of Palladium’s #summerofsmiles campaign, the new collaboration focuses on a new wave of optimism following the global lockdown that is bringing people together in activism.
The collection consists of two classic Palladium styles – PAMPA HI SMILEY and the PAMPA HI SMILEY EDT – each featuring design updates and the introduction of a new glow-in-the-dark colourway.
The PAMPA HI SMILEY features the iconic melted Smiley logo on each ankle alongside bold stripes of white, yellow and black on heels and laces, reminiscent of the clandestine raves which sprang up across the UK towards the end of the 1980s and early 1990s.
The PAMPA HI SMILEY is also available in glow-in-the-dark colourways featuring a photoluminescent tread and Smiley ankle logos. The PAMPA HI SMILEY GITD also features circular vector graphics inspired by retro dance-night promo flyers and come in a muted black and white colour palette. These sneakers come alive after nightfall.
The PALLADIUM x SMILEY collection is available in Black/White, Black/Yellow, Yellow/Black Red and Anthracite GITD colourways.
