Notion 73 is here, and we celebrated its arrival in style at the Cuckoo Club with Kojey Radical, JHus and BB Diamond shutting down the party.
Well, what a night that was. Notion 73 is here, and as usual, we celebrated its arrival in style, this time taking it to the Cuckoo Club just off Regent Street to share our new issue with the great and good of the music and fashion worlds for the #SWATCHXNOTION73 party. Kicking off the night was one of our favourite artists from the latest issue Kojey Radical (above) who, accompanied by his outrageously sick band, whipped the crowd into a frenzy nice and early, ensuring things got off to a lively start. A few Zubrowka & Cawston’s apple juices later, BB Diamond took the stage, taking the vibe from gritty, poetic rap to subwoofer busting house and infectious pop, all tied together by that jaw-dropping voice. Our gorgeous guest editor Becca Dudley then took over proceedings in the DJ booth laying down riddim after riddim of dancehall, reggae and everything in between.
Finally, as if there wasn’t enough going on already, JHus came through for a set that was nothing but hits. By the time he’d got through ‘Dem Boy Paigon’, ‘Lean and Bop’ and of course ‘Friendly’ we’d lost our voices from singing (or should that be screaming?) along.
Of course, a party is only as good as its DJ, and we had five (!) spinning across the night to ensure maximum vibes. NIMMO blessed the early evening with some slick disco selections, meanwhile downstairs Digital Farm Animals was busting out the hits to the arriving crowds. Then it was Star. One’s turn to take over Cuckoo Club’s lavish basement, bringing their record bag of jungle, DnB, funky house and more, proving Thursdays are very much the new Fridays. As JHus shut things down on stage upstairs, Dark0 got dark with some hard hitting cuts back in the basement before finally Becca Dudley once again took over the wheels of steel to close the night.
