Toronto based singer-songwriter Pisceze brings the Y2K nostalgia with her silky new R&B single “Play It Back”.
Sentimental in both its lyrical content and sonic style, “Play It Back” is the latest offering from Canadian singer, Pisceze, a moniker derived from her star sign and love of astrology. Pisceze offers up the honeyed track just in time for cuffing season, sumptuously weaving her luxurious vocals into a refined R&B soundscape – all alongside a music video straight out of the 2000s.
Discussing the single, Pisceze explains: ‘“Play It Back” is a song about how powerful ‘time’ is. You can gain anything in the world but time. Time heals all and everything takes time. I always say “take me back” when I think of good memories and I wanted the listeners to feel that same feeling when listening to the song so I called it “Play it back”’.
Influenced by her life experiences and her Korean and Japanese heritage, Pisceze has created a timeless R&B/soul sound that has landed her on a multitude of respected playlists such as RADAR Canada, Canadian R&B and Fresh Finds: Pop. Breaking out into the scene with her debut single “What’s Your Sign” in 2019, Pisceze has already made waves in the industry, penning tracks for Shawn Mendes, BTS and Sabrina Carpenter.
