Following the release of his debut album Raised Up in May, Waiting For Smith has just unveiled the music video for the album’s standout track, ‘Raised Up.’ This visual accompaniment is a profound exploration of self-discovery and spiritual growth, reinforcing the artist’s message of embracing inner transformation.
In today’s chaotic world, Waiting For Smith’s music offers a beacon of clarity, urging listeners to pause and reassess their lives. The song’s acoustic arrangement, produced by the renowned Danton Supple, features Waiting For Smith’s distinctive vocals and evocative lyrics, underscoring the importance of disconnecting from the digital noise that often overwhelms us.
The music video, set against the striking landscapes of South Africa, captures the essence of the song’s message. It depicts a young woman who finds solace and joy by disconnecting from technology and immersing herself in nature. This visual narrative aligns perfectly with Waiting For Smith’s lyrical themes, highlighting the contrast between a life tethered to modern distractions and one rooted in natural harmony.
Reflecting on the video’s creation, Waiting For Smith shared, “It was incredible to see the idea that started in our heads come to life in South Africa. When I called Ross Hillier, the Director, on the phone and told him the idea it was like the video had already been made. He went into the South African wilderness two weeks later with a DOP and the amazing actress Francesca Michel, and shot it in a couple of days!”
With accolades from notable figures like Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson, and a growing fan base, Waiting For Smith continues to rise as a compelling figure in indie folk and pop. His recent tour with Isaac Anderson across Europe has further cemented his status, and fans should stay tuned for more music and performances from this promising artist.
