Saloni's new EP Rani blends pop, R&B, and Bollywood influences, celebrating empowerment and cultural fusion in six vibrant tracks.
Rising British Asian artist Saloni is poised to enchant listeners once again with her highly anticipated EP, Rani. Following the viral success of her track ‘Nee Gundellounna’, which racked up over 5 million views and reached #16 on the Official UK Asian Music Charts, Saloni is ready to showcase her unique sound—a fusion of pop, R&B, and Bollywood.
This six-track EP reflects her versatility as a singer-songwriter, featuring songs in five different languages. The title, Rani, meaning “queen” in Hindi, embodies themes of strength, confidence, and self-empowerment. The lead single, ‘Fair Share’, a standout collaboration with Tamil artist Maharani, celebrates independence through a trilingual blend of English, Telugu, and Tamil.
Saloni and Maharani crafted ‘Fair Share’ over Facetime and WhatsApp, resulting in an organic collaboration that bridges cultural and linguistic divides. “This track represents a point of independence,” Saloni shares, highlighting its message for women to embrace their journey and worth. The EP peels back layers of vulnerability, with tracks like ‘It’s Alright’ serving as a heartfelt letter to her younger self.
Nominated for the music category at this year’s Ethnicity Awards 2024, alongside artists like Zayn Malik and RAYE, Saloni’s cultural richness and powerful narratives make her a rising force to watch. With Rani, she’s not just making music; she’s crafting an anthem of independence and a celebration of identity.
