Brighton-based Lydia Evangeline is back with an anti-Valentine’s Day song for all the broken hearts who aren’t celebrating with the person they love.
Starting her career on YouTube as part of ‘Wayward Daughter’, Lydia has amassed over 20 million streams on Spotify as a songwriter and 85,000 subscribers on YouTube. The young singer-songwriter has also played on tour with Elton John and written and featured on one of Gareth Emery’s most successful tracks, ‘Reckless’.
Following support from the likes of BBC Radio, Spotify playlists and industry wide acclaim for her two initial EPs, Lydia returns with her fresh single ‘Raw’. Written based off of her own personal experiences, the nostalgic, piano-assisted ballad builds slowly as a story about her sudden breakup unfolds.
Speaking more on the new release, Lydia explains, “It was written very soon after a big and painful break up, and I think I needed to put into words the fact that I was actually lost for words, which I guess is a bit of an oxymoron. The whole song centres around ‘I might be ready talk, soon or maybe not so soon who knows… But right now, it’s still too raw, too painful, I’m still reeling, grieving, processing, gathering my thoughts and my emotions, reimagining my future, going over and over questions and confusion.’”
With the support of her long standing, loyal following, ‘Raw’ is just the start of what Lydia has to offer in 2021.
