Highlighting the underground electronic scene in Aotearoa/New Zealand, DJ Fuckoff rounds up 10 high energy club hitters and bassy rollers for your listening pleasure.

'Sepia' by Shli

I met Shli some years ago when I was home and instantly became a massive fan of his sounds. With his Backrooms EP he goes into the deep bass exploration of the NZ underground scene. Sepia showcases a more four-to-the-floor percussive rhythm, woven into off-beat stabs and dubbed-out one shots.

'Insomnia' by Ayaluna

More dubbed out sounds from Ōtautahi, Ayaluna serves up some outerwordly dubstep with a hypnotic feel. A deep introspective roller that weaves between 4/4 and half time. Time to lock in.

'WICKED BAD BASS' by Mokotron

Crispy, spaced-out electro bass straight outta the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau. This one has a video game-esque vibe, with its crushed sound fx, wobbles and the classic electro bass. It’s that ‘WICKED BAD BASS’.

'Like Dat ' by Hyan & Dera Meelan

A big nod to the UKF sound we all love, these boys really came through with 'Like Dat.' I want it like dat everyday, with the classic wubs, dubs and risers. Dubstep for the heads and we love it.

'N E 160' by LAKEBOON

A mix of footwork, electro, juke and more, 'N E 160' is a little drum work out kiwi style. Shout out so The Big Fresh Collective!

'JAYWALK' by Caru & Micca

Locked and loaded on all of my USBs and a staple in nearly all of my sets, 'JAYWALK' is a blessing from Caru & Micca. Sampling New Zealand's famous crosswalk sound, the song is the perfect peak time nostalgia tool.

'U THURSTY' by Surly

Tāmaki's bass and juke legend Surly came through with this juked out club tool. If you weren’t before, now you are THURSTY. Shout out Surly!

'Cell' by Clay

A hometown friend and next level producer, Clay was always pushing the boundaries with his sets and productions. 'Cell' is a perfect example of that, freaked out tekno with airy half time breaks and tripped out syncopated beats. The whole Orbis EP slaps! Check check check it.

'Indisputable' by Paige Julia

Breakbeat wizard Paige Julia really worked her magic on 'Indisputable'. Next level sound design and bass mastery, the ears really get a jungle blessing. Big ups the BASS and big ups the BREAKS!

'This Times For Real' by deepState

Hitting that euphoric clubby sweet spot deepState explores that old school garage feel. Deep sexy bass, soft vocals and floaty keys. I've been listening to this on a loop.
