To celebrate their upcoming new project, Porridge Radio selects us 10 tracks that hit in the right moment and influenced a long period of touring and recording.

These are some of the songs I had on repeat during a long period of touring and writing and recording – or ones that just hit in the right way at the right moment.

I listened to Radiohead’s Kid A every day for two months just before we went into the studio to make this album and whilst we were recording, I could only really listen to that and Phil Cook’s album All These Years. Animal Collective’s ‘Man Of Oil’ and Zammuto’s ‘My Dog’s Eyes’ were on repeat for a long time whilst we were on the road and I was totally obsessed with the flow of words in those songs and the feel of the stories they built in my head.

When we were in the studio tracking, I left one night to drive to London for a wedding or a funeral and listened to Led Zeppelin’s IV in the car and realised it was so perfectly mirroring a sound we were chasing on a particular song. Alex G, Nick Cave, BICEP and St. Vincent have all had a huge effect on me when I’ve seen them live, especially during the writing period of Clouds in The Sky They Will Always Be There for Me, seeing them made me think about the power of a live performance and the energy that audiences and artists pour into each other. Arthur Russell has been in my headphones for the past few years, always soothing my brain.
