AYAKO drops new track "Something About You", an intriguing ode to a mystery man.

Scouted at just 16, AYAKO is on a mission to represent her home of Japan on a global scale. New single “Something About You” is a melding of influences, telling the story of a night falling ‘into the mystery of man’.

Born and raised in Tokyo, AYAKO is an artist who cites a range of influences, from J-Pop artist Utada Hikaru, to Alicia Keys. After being discovered by AVEZ, one of Japan’s major entertainment conglomerates, AYAKO spent two years performing at venues around Tokyo as a member of a J-Pop girl group. Moving to LA in 2014 to study music, and pursue a solo career, it was from then onwards that the artist went from strength to strength.

As time went on, after collaborations with international producers and pressing two features on vinyl, in 2019 AYAKO released her official debut single. Singing in both English and Japanese, her eclectic sound and captivating vocals are demonstrated perfectly in new single “Something About You”, produced by SEROW. Connecting with her roots in the music video, she demonstrates a continued and exciting ability to push boundaries. The themes take inspiration from having seen “visions of geisha and goldfish” in her mind when listening to her new track.
