Released today, Stüssy and Martine Rose took to Instagram over the weekend to tease their forthcoming collaboration.
On Sunday, Stüssy’s Instagram proved once again why it’s the ‘it’ streetwear brand for 2023. ‘Stüssy x Martine Rose, expect perfection’ the caption of their latest post reads, simultaneously announcing one of the year’s most surprising linkups and generating an awful amount of hype along the way.
Those with a keen eye will tell you that a collection between the Californian brand and British designer has been brewing for a while. Back in 2020, to celebrate Stüssy’s 40-year anniversary, they collaborated with a host of revered creatives on their ‘world tour’ t shirts. Virgil Abloh, Marc Jacobs and Martine Rose were a handful of names who put their luxury spin on the classic streetwear staple.
Shot by London based photographer Rosie Marks, the picture posted to Instagram suggests a motor theme to the capsule. Leather biker gloves with Stüssy’s classic double S logo and a Martine Rose spell out take centre stage, while a branded car ornament is positioned to the left. Besides the two items, however, everything else is left to fans’ imaginations.
At the tale end of 2022, Stüssy added Dries Van Noten to its arsenal of coveted high fashion collaborations. Timberland, Levi’s and Nike are a few linkups worthy of a mention so far this year, but a combination of surprise and unexpectedness makes this one all the more intriguing.
Stüssy x Martine Rose will be available in store and online from April 14.
