August Kamp invites us further into her universe of electronic exploration with her latest single, 'Sugarize'.

August Kamp is Los Angeles’ most exciting new voice in a crowded indie electronica scene. With the addictive new track ‘Sugarize’, the trans creative technologist continues to construct a world of her own, blurring the lines between nature and machinery. “It’s about hanging in there,” explains August, “Seeking a better moment by making it through this one, often at the cost of a piece of the self.”

With just six years under her belt, she has amassed an impressive back catalogue – ten albums and four EPs – which tells a complex emotional story through studious exploration. August works from a cosy home studio in a remote botanical garden, where the walls are littered with extracts from vintage encyclopedias and Polaroid snaps of imagined worlds.

‘Sugarize’ has an expansive yet truly grounded feel to it, layered with groovy electronic sounds that take the audience on an unexpected journey, evoking the mind of Mk.gee. Make no mistake, though, this is distinctly August Kamp. Employing Teenage Engineering’s OP-1 Field to master, the singer-songwriter, who views technology as a natural force, imbues the song with her signature auditory tactility.

As someone with a more open, nuanced stance on the use of artificial intelligence in creation, this latest experimentation expands the boundaries of the August Kamp universe even further. As the first inkling into her next musical chapter, ‘Sugarize’ will no doubt be on repeat in your ears.
