YARD’s new single 'Trevor' blends techno and rock, exploring loss and transformation in an electrifying sonic journey.
Electropunk group YARD have just unveiled their latest single, ‘Trevor’, a pulsating testament to their growth and innovation following a groundbreaking year. Seamlessly merging techno beats with electronic rock, ‘Trevor’ encapsulates the band’s signature sound – intense, immersive, and undeniably exhilarating.
Known for their high-octane performances and eerie mascot Bucketman, YARD has become a force in both Dublin’s music community and the international scene. ‘Trevor’ deepens their narrative, presenting a dystopian electronic journey that weaves euphoric rhythms with cascading synths and screeching vocals. It’s a track that grips listeners before exploding into a cathartic crescendo, showcasing the band’s knack for sonic tension and explosive energy.
Lyrically, ‘Trevor’ delves into the emotional complexities of anthropomorphism. Vocalist Emmet White reflects on the loss of his cherished bike, aptly named Trevor. “I’ve a habit of naming inanimate objects that have played a significant role in my life. In this case ‘Trevor’ was the name of a bike that I had for years, which was passed down to me by my brother. Sadly, one night, it was stolen outside of work. The loss of Trevor hit me far harder than I had expected as it felt like I had lost a friend or a companion”, he shares capturing the song’s essence of personal loss and nostalgia.
As the first single from their anticipated EP releasing in May, ‘Trevor’ sets the stage for YARD’s thrilling new chapter, drawing inspiration from sonic giants like SUUNS and Death Grips. With this release, YARD reaffirms their position as one of the most exciting bands to emerge in recent years.
