‘Turks and Cakes’ by BRIII

Rising rapper BRII, repping San Fernando and Los Angeles, is catching attention with her latest single, ‘Turks & Cakes’, featuring John Mackk and produced by 808 Mafia. This track is a sneak peek into her upcoming EP, La Madrina, and highlights her bold sound and unapologetic style.

 

‘Turks & Cakes’ brings a carefree, luxurious energy, inspired by the idyllic vibes of Turks and Caicos, with a playful twist on the title. “The song’s all about tapping into that worry-free, spontaneous energy you get on vacation—just living in the moment and owning it,” BRIII explains. “I swapped ‘Caicos’ for ‘cakes’ to celebrate the female body, representing confidence and empowerment.”

 

BRIII’s journey wasn’t always about glam. Raised by a single mother, she moved through the West Coast cities of San Fernando, Fontana, and Corona, experiencing instability while she and her brothers often slept on floors. These challenges fueled her resilience and determination, shaping her work ethic and hunger as an artist. Though based in LA, BRIII’s music often echoes Southern influences, with her deep voice, gritty beats, and hard-hitting flows that leave listeners curious about her roots.

 

Her sound is influenced by Southern rap giants like Future, 42 Dugg, and Moneybagg Yo, along with female trailblazers like Cardi B and Latto. BRIII channels these inspirations into a powerful blend of confidence and storytelling that resonates with fans. “Music is my way to connect with people, especially those who think they know me but don’t realize where I’ve come from or what I’ve overcome,” she says.

 

BRIII’s upcoming EP La Madrina (The Godmother) is set to drop later this year and will feature collaborations with some of LA’s top talent and Grammy-winning producers. The project will showcase her versatility, mixing English and Spanish lyrics with rap, R&B, and dembow influences.
