Listen to this week’s edition of UNDISCOVERED, featuring our pick of the best new music from the world’s most exciting emerging musicians.
As the temperature continues to rise, so does the wave of emerging artists dropping heat just in time for summer. R&B hotshot Jae Stephens sets the tone with ‘Kiss It’, a funk-infused anthem built around an irresistible 8-bit keyboard riff. Former NOTION cover star George Riley continues her impressive streak this year with ‘Slow’, a silky house-tinged track made for late-night dancefloors. Across the pond, American pop provocateurs Frost Children tap into the nostalgia of a 2016 summer with a sleazy, sun-drenched dance tune that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Slowing things down, Texas slowcore band Teethe return with a melancholic ballad anchored by acoustic guitar and sweeping strings. Nabeel turns the volume back up with a shoegaze-driven, guitar-heavy track full of electric licks, while NYC’s Public Circuit dive into synth-pop with ‘Samson’, an 80s-inspired cut laced with funky guitars and their signature post-punk bite.
South London’s Venna brings a mellow, effortless flow state on ‘Day x2’, while London-based Marta Vega blends alt-pop grit with crashing drums and searing electric guitar on her latest single. And closing things on a soothing note, Miami indie rockers Mustard Service bring their quintessential jazz-meets-surf rock on ‘2 AM’, an anthem steeped in late-night longing.
