"cowboys don't have friends" by Leith
Toronto-born, London-based Leith shares her stunning sophomore single "cowboys don't have friends". She explains that it "is kind of a commentary on the idea that you have to do stuff for yourself. I like that it’s not explicitly saying it’s a good thing or a bad thing either. I actually heard it on Grey’s Anatomy; McSteamy says it to Izzie, a bit like “toughen up kid”".
"Ladybird" by NewDad
A bolder, more confident songwriting effort from the Irish band, "Ladybird" was inspired by the film of the same name and a Dave Matthews song that plays throughout. "Sugar Baby" by Eden Rain
"Sugar Baby" came after Eden heard a friend’s experiences of dating for money. She said: "I wanted to play with the phrase ‘fuck bitches get money’ and turn it into something where the women are in control, especially in this situation the women are often perceived to be ‘fucked up’ but my friend sees herself as taking control of her own life and the situation she is in".
