Listen to Mr. Dutch's vibrant amapiano-infused Afropop offering, "Ungowami", featuring Aymos, out now.
“If love is a crime, I’m ready to be the most wanted”, delivers Mr. Dutch, coolly, as he breezes through his latest Afropop-infused single, “Ungowami”. Seamlessly integrating elements of afro genres and pop fusion tones, his latest offering lends itself to a perfectly balanced, complex track. The Nigerian artist brings soul singer-songwriter Aymos onto the track, who adds extra amapiano goodness to his signature unhurried delivery and recite-worthy hooks.
Mr. Dutch first burst onto the scene in 2018, and has since garnered a faithful following and a string of hits, including powerful collaborations with Grammy-nominated Burna Boy, Reekado, and Lava Lava. As Afropop continues to grow in popularity, the musician hopes to educate listeners on the genre’s deep West African roots, as well as its importance in day-to-day life. He retains a distinctly Nigerian sound in his music, evoking a vibrant afro-fusion feeling that draws from live fuji music, American funk and jazz, and highlife.
Speaking on his most recent release, Mr. Dutch shares that it’s a “Certified lovesong.” He continues, “The hook with Aymos’ impressive vocals perfectly complements the track’s rhythmic beat creating a captivating sound. Telling the story of how far one will go for love, I wanted to deliver a vibrant take on the traditional love song. If love is a crime, I’m ready to be the most wanted.”
