London’s Black Bordello dives into the metaphysical with their hauntingly raw sophomore album White Bardo, blending alternative rock with themes of love, mortality, and the cosmos.
London’s Black Bordello returns with their highly anticipated sophomore album White Bardo, a mesmerising exploration of the metaphysical. Spearheaded by the band’s enigmatic leader, Sienna Bordello, this nine-track opus delves into themes of love, mortality, and the cosmos, weaving together piercing lyricism with a crisp and primal sonic palette.
The lead single, ‘Nunhead’, sets the tone for White Bardo, blending vaudevillian chamber pop with post-punk and avant-garde blues. It’s a hypnotic and haunting preview of the emotional depth fans can expect. Sienna’s fragmented yet vivid lyricism transports listeners into a dreamscape of otherworldly reflection, following their well-received debut album.
Sienna describes the shift from their first record: “Our debut captured my frustration with the adult world’s misogyny and politics. White Bardo is about letting go of those earthly burdens and diving into something beyond—divinity, quantum physics, and the unknown.”
Known for their compelling live performances, Black Bordello has built a strong reputation, recently supporting The Libertines and gaining the attention of BBC 6’s Steve Lamacq. The band will celebrate their album launch with an exclusive show, promising a night of ethereal soundscapes and raw emotion.
With White Bardo, Black Bordello continues to carve out a space in the UK’s alternative rock scene, cementing their place as one of the most exciting acts of the moment.
Tickets for the launch show can be brought via Dice FM.
